Hawkstar nodded. "And apprentices must have at least one warrior with them until we are sure the dogs are out of our territory for good," she said, expanding on Sagefeather's suggestion. "We should hurry...who knows where those dogs've gotten to now?"

Sagefeather nodded and bounded ahead. Soon they reached the camp, and his fur lay flat; no screeches of battle, no wails of pain, no blood or fear stench.

Hawkstar sighed with relief. "Thank StarClan." She moved to the High Hill, springing up to her spot on the top. "WindClan, I have an announcement!" Her words were rushed; there was no time for the ceremonial call.
